Hmm what happened to this contest? We should have the results later on today but it was removed from the contests list on GW's site yesterday...

Ya I just find weird they just remove the contest from their website and don't say a word about it (at least I didn't read anything about it). I'm probably wrong but it's as if they had changed their mind about organizing a contest and try to make as if it never happened in the first place. I hope we'll have some news soon.

If they've bothered to update the website yesterday, by far the most likely explanation is they're going to announce the winners today.

"We received a huge number of entries to the Henchman Skill Bar Contest—more than 30,000! We're still reviewing all of the submissions, so we've moved the announcement of the contest winners to October 1st. We're sorry for any inconvenience and appreciate your patience!"
Looks like we're waiting another week. Not surprising, since they did lose a week being sick :x

Thanks for the info on the new date, Pansy, but ~ another delay?
Didn't they also underestimate the amount of players for the free storage, too? Well, some lessons will never be learned...
What's next? We can't go live with GW2 because too many people preordered it and [insert random excuse here]?
One delay after another...after another...

They have like 2 and a half people working on GW and those people probably also have responsibilities for something in GW2 as well, give them a break

Live team had swine flu (or just regular flu idk) for a week, give them a break. Pretty good reason for a delay.

Please don't make excuses for Anet on why they've delayed this and a lot more; they do that enough for themselves now.
Perhaps they shouldn't post exactly when they will announce something, then do a stealth change of wordage to that, amending the date?
Everyone had to have their entries in by a certain date. That NPC was removed that exact date. No excuses to be late in entering, period.; however, it's acceptable for you (and some) that Anet can change/delay the announcement of the winners because of the amount of entries? Sorry, I failed to see the part where it said, "because we had the swine flu".
If deadlines don't mean a thing to Anet anymore and delays are to be the norm, then they shouldn't post anything on their site giving an exact date as to when something will occur. People expect it then.

I seriously hope they're joking when they say they're actually reviewing those 30,000 different skill bars.

You know the funny thing about contests/updates is that Anet is under no obligation to put them in GW other than to try and retain its playerbase from other MMO's.
How can you be oblivious to the fact that Anet only has a small amount of people that have to sort through thousands of builds with no clear guidelines on a winning entry, or what to do with the same submission of the alt's that people have? Using the power of logic and reason, a contest like that would take weeks to work on...and Anet hasn't had many that they can devote to (PAX+aftermath.)
I'm dissapointed in waiting another week to see the results, but it isn't that big of a deal. I doubt I'll be one of the lucky 20 out of ~30,000 entries

Patience is a virtue gamers don't understand I see.
The date changed. No amount of whining about it will change that. Move on already.

My point, in a roundabout way. Announcing a contest entry deadline and then the date to announce the winners was too close to be realized, unless far fewer entries were expected to be recieved.
This is GW, though, and I'd venture a guess that those that hadn't played this in quite some time still entered, as did multi-accounts. After all, it's basically for a free, rare item and your name in lights = expect more entries than you expected.

I don't see anyone trying to get the date changed. Even if they were, you are right. No amount of whining will get it changed.
It's the change to the behavior of the players that's called in to question. Repeated delays for everything they do lately (it seems) is becoming the standard for Anet and, whatever the excuse of the day is from them, they expect us to accept their new standard yet not offer constructive criticism, sarcasm and/or vent when they announce things and then constantly fail to meet their own deadlines?
Yeah, I have patience. When it's placed in game, it is. I'm just not a fan of continual:
